Read about Margaret Butcher's experience doing the tandem skydive in 2009.
What is a Tandem Skydive? This jump takes place on one day and there is no training required apart from a briefing with the instructor beforehand. The jump is in tandem as you jump with a fully qualified instructor. After exiting the plane at 10,000 you experience freefall for 40-45 seconds and at 5,000 feet the instructor deploys the main canopy and you parachute to the ground. The landing is totally controlled by the instructor. Thanks for your support every penny you raise from this jump will go towards supporting the HIV / AIDS orphans we support in Kenya, Africa
What is a Static Line Square Jump? This is a solo parachute jump. It is called a “static line” jump because from the moment you step into the plane you will be securely attached to a “static line” which is designed to automatically open your parachute for you as you exit the aircraft. There is 5-6 hours of intensive training involved before you can jump. Once this training has been completed the jump will take place from 3,000 feet. You have directional control with this type of square canopy. Thanks for your support every penny you raise from this jump will go towards supporting the HIV / AIDS orphans we support in Kenya, Africa
What is an Accelerated Freefall Jump? This is where you will be able to experience freefall solo. You will receive a full day’s ground training from two fully qualified instructors teaching you the basics of skydiving together with a thorough explanation of what will be happening on the first jump. During the jump itself you will be accompanied by two instructors who will jump be by your side until approximately 5,000ft where the canopy will be opened and an instructor will guide you to the ground through a radio fitted in your helmet. Thanks for your support every penny you raise from this jump will go towards supporting the HIV / AIDS orphans we support in Kenya, Africa
How much does it cost? We work with professional events organisers, Skyline, who receive a flat rate per jumper for organising the jumps for us. There are three different types of parachute jump for you to choose from. We ask you to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship money (from £360 up to about £535) depending on the type of jump and the airfield you choose. In turn, we will receive an average donation of £140. In addition to this, every extra pound that you raise over the minimum comes straight to The Nasio Trust, so please try to raise as much as you possibly can! Thanks for your support every penny you raise from this jump will go towards supporting the HIV / AIDS orphans we support in Kenya, Africa
The Nasio Trust strongly believes in being transparent in its work and in its fundraising. We feel that it is important to recognise that a proportion of the sponsorship you raise goes towards your training and jump costs. When requesting funds, please ensure that your donors have read the note on the sponsorship form and understand that their sponsorship is not only a direct donation to charity but is also to sponsor you to participate in the parachuting challenge. Rest assured that after the initial jump costs are covered, every penny you raise will go towards supporting the HIV / AIDS orphans we support in Kenya, Africa. Alternatively, you may wish to pay for your own jump costs, in which case all of your sponsorship will come to The Nasio Trust
