The Porridge Kitchen Appeal

Through your support, the Nasio team was able to host the first of our Porridge Kitchens on the 8th of August, 2023.

The kitchen has run every Tuesday since and will continue to do so across the coming months. It feeds 10 children and their mothers – whom we’ve identified as being worst affected by malnutrition.

Kitchen beneficiaries are provided with cups of porridge made from sorghum, millet, and groundnuts, fortified with spirulina (a blue green algae and superfood we produce).

Mothers of the affected children get involved with preparing the porridge. The community health nurse and nutritionist are on hand to educate on child nutrition, discuss the challenges mothers face, and offer solutions and advice.

Did you know? Families with children affected by malnutrition are monitored by our community health nurse and nutritionist to improve their health.

The mothers who attend are also provided with ground maize flour to take home for their family. The porridge kitchen has provided over 80 meals to our beneficiaries so far.

We would like to thank our donors once again for their support. Sharing our project with your friends and family helps us spread the word about our work and continue to grow our community of supporters like you.

If you’re willing to share the story of our work with your network, we’d be incredibly grateful.

Giving Is Changing – But Your Support Changes Lives

Fewer people in the UK are giving to charity today.

While many supporters remain generous, charities are now relying on a smaller group of committed individuals. At the same time, more people feel disconnected or unsure about where their money goes.
