“Cosmic Cats” Children’s Stories Being Sold in Aid of Our Library Appeal
February 2024

Cosmic cats is a remarkable anthology that unites children’s stories from Kennington, Oxfordshire, and Mumias, Western Kenya. This extraordinary book showcases a collection of short stories centred around the theme of ‘cats’, crafted by young authors from both villages in Kenya and the UK.

Twenty-Four captivating tales were selected by authors Julia Golding and Sylvia Vetta, alongside teachers Lesley Maskell and Paul Gamble to be featured in the published book ‘Cosmic Cats’. The incredible cover was designed by the renowned illustrator Korky Paul, and the book was professionally published by Oxford eBooks!

Since its release, Cosmic Cats has gained widespread attention, selling over 150 copies and capturing the attention of BBC News with the feature “World Book Day: Oxfordshire and Kenyan Children Raise Funds for Library with Book”. This project not only fostered creativity but also facilitated a unique virtual connection between the young authors in Kennington and Mumias through an interactive Zoom meeting.

The books is on sale in our online shop for just £8, and all profits will go to the Nasio Trust’s Library Appeal. We thank  Sylvia Vetta (author) for her invaluable contribution to this project as both creator and patron.
