Girls in Business Training Programme

Empowering Young Women Through Entrepreneurship

The Girls in Business initiative empowers young women by equipping them with essential entrepreneurial skills, confidence, and leadership abilities. Our mission is to provide them with the tools to become self-reliant business owners and community leaders.

We recognise that traditional pathways after secondary school, such as university and higher education, are not accessible to everyone. However, this should not limit opportunities to advance career prospects. At the same time, we encourage young women to challenge societal gender norms, aim high, and believe in their potential for success.

Our aim is to create opportunities for young women through practical business training, mentorship from successful female entrepreneurs, and financial support to kickstart their own ventures. Our focus is on:

  • Entrepreneurial Skill Development – Helping participants identify business opportunities and establish sustainable enterprises.
  • Mentorship & Community Support – Connecting girls with experienced mentors and peer-led workshops to foster guidance and collaboration.
  • Financial Support & Resources – Providing seed funding and necessary resources for businesses in fields such as tailoring, catering, and farming.
  • Leadership Development – Cultivating strong leadership skills to encourage participants to become future community leaders and role models.

This initiative is more than just a training programme—it is a transformative movement that empowers young women to take control of their futures. By equipping them with the necessary skills, mentorship, and financial support, we are fostering a generation of self-reliant entrepreneurs and community leaders. Through this programme, participants will not only build sustainable businesses but also uplift those around them, creating lasting economic and social change.

This Children’s Mental Health Week, we are reminded that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health, and that together, we can create safe spaces where children thrive.

Why the 2025 Budget Makes Charitable Giving More Important Than Ever

This year, as families across the UK consider giving, it’s worth thinking not only of generosity but also of opportunity.

With the 2025 Budget under the new Labour government, a number of fiscal changes have made the case for charitable donations — such as those to The Nasio Trust — stronger than ever.

Changes to the Kenyan Healthcare System Leaves Thousands At Risk

Kenya’s new Social Health Authority (SHA) was meant to expand access to free healthcare. For the communities Nasio serves, it is doing the opposite.

The transition from the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to SHA has introduced income-based premiums, digital registration, and phone-dependent systems that many families simply cannot access—particularly women, children, and the poorest households.
