We are proud to be fostering research partnerships with universities across the world to strengthen our programme delivery and improve our impact.
United Kingdom
University of Reading
- The Institute of Education and Nasio will jointly apply for grants and funding to strengthen Nasio’s educational pathways.
- We are collaborating on a project with PEARL (People and Place: Evidence-Based Adaptation for Resilient Livelihoods) to monitor and assess the impact of climate change on agricultural livelihoods.
- Nancy Hunt, Nasio’s CEO and Founder, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University in recognition of her transformative work in improving lives in Kenya.
University of Oxford
- Summer Internships: Each year, we host two students at our headquarters in Kenya. These students support key activities such as impact data analysis, programme evaluation, and the collection of community feedback, complementing the work of our Monitoring team.
- Micro-Internships: We also offer short-term, week-long placements that provide students with valuable insights into the charity sector.
- We have been recognised as a ‘Gold Standard’ Internship Host for five consecutive years.
University of Birmingham
- We partner with the University to offer summer internships each July, partially funded through the Turing Scheme.

Coventry University
- In collaboration with Dr Lien Luu from the Coventry Business School, we offer student placements in Kenya focused on analysing the impact of our income-generating programmes.
Canada
York University
- We are working with Dr Michaela Hynie and her students as part of a Community-Based Research elective.
- Students are currently undertaking field-based research on key issues including HIV, community development, and child welfare.
Kenya
University of Nairobi
- We are in the process of developing a partnership to provide placement opportunities for Kenyan students to work with us in Musanda and enrol our beneficiaries into UoN’s mentorship programme for girls.
Maseno University
- We collaborated with the Department of Nutrition to conduct a literature review on nutrition programmes running across Kenya to better streamline Nasio’s own porridge kitchen.
