Invest in Food Security and Regenerative Agriculture
August 2025

At The Nasio Trust, we believe communities should be food secure and have access to sustainable livelihoods so that a child can grow up healthy, educated, and full of hope for the future. We are inviting your business to be part of this transformation by supporting our Agriculture and Food Security.

Your partnership will not only change farmers’ lives in rural Kenya but will also strengthen your company’s social impact, employee engagement, and global outlook.

The Challenge

Agricultural yields dropped by 34% in Kenya due to climate change in this millennium. As a result, food insecurity in Kenya is second only to South Sudan in Sub-Saharan Africa and has led to malnutrition in among children. 16% of households in Nasio’s catchment area are unable to meet their food needs through traditional agricultural activities and livestock rearing. Despite being a fertile zone and Kenya’s food basket, Mumias West Sub County is reeling from the effects of climate change putting traditional agricultural livelihoods at risk.

Our Solution – Empowering Farmers Through Sustainable Agriculture

Through our Agricultural Programmes we provide:

  • Access to high quality farm inputs including seeds and fertilisers
  • Training in regenerative agricultural practices and agribusiness delivered by experienced partners
  • Continuous monitoring of agricultural yields and troubleshooting
  • Historical climate trends and crop thresholds analysis to develop evidence-backed agricultural interventions
  • Opportunities for young people to participate in agricultural activities through Young Farmers Clubs
  • Training in agricultural activities for youth and beneficiaries such as beekeeping and aquaculture

This model doesn’t just help farmers– it strengthens whole families and communities, creating a cycle of hope and opportunity.

Our Impact – Highlights from 2024

  • 1,750 farmers supported through direct input and training provisions
  • 74% of farmers supported are women
  • 49% increase in average yields amongst all farmers
  • 170 young people participating in Young Farmers Club

How Your Business Can Make a Difference

To sustain this programme, we need £100,000 each year. This funding covers farmer training, inputs and staff salaries.

There are many ways your business can help:

  • Support our Regenerative Agriculture Pilot Programme reaching 50 farmers – £4,500 for a farming season can make a radical difference to yields and farmer incomes
  • Fund a Kitchen Garden – £30 can give a family food security
  • Enable us to build local capacity through training in the Individual Household Methodology – £2,500 will help train 10 local staff members and leaders in the methodology to accurately collect livelihoods data
  • Donate maize seeds to 100 small farmers – £2,000 can ensure that no farmer goes into debt to feed their family
  • Pay the wages of an Agriculture Extension Officer – £1,000 a year can give farmers the technical support they need
  • Give In-Kind Support – farm inputs such as seeds, fertilisers and other equipment
  • Engage Your Employees – payroll giving, matched funding, mentoring, or team volunteering in Kenya.
